ABOUT THE BOUTS

Fiction writers compete in a tournament-style competition of storytelling and performance. There are two rounds of instant death knock-out then a three-way final, with the contestants bringing a new story (of up to 200 words) every time they step up to the mic. The audience decides the winner of each bout and the overall winner will claim a cash prize.

This is unlike any other literature event or, indeed, poetry slam. This is fiction getting fighty. Manchizzle called it "maximum entertainment" and Didsbury Life called it "something unique, home-grown and radical". Your hosts are the Flashtag Writers.

Our fourth Slam is in October 2014, this time in Lancaster. If you feel the raging ink charging through your veins and you want to show what you are made of, first read the rules, then apply here. Not for the fainthearted
